The only daily tracking poll left, Rasmussen, has more good news for President Trump: Despite all the negative headlines about his personal attorney, including claims of potential campaign finance law violations, and fired FBI Director James Comey’s revenge tour, Trump’s approval improved slightly over last week.

And, yes, he’s still beating Obama in the polls.

Here’s Rasmussen‘s summary of its latest findings:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 35% who Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing and 39% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -4.

Here’s how Trump’s been trending over the last two weeks:

Rasmussen also gauged how voters are feeling about Trump-fired Comey, and it’s not great:

Even among voters who Strongly Disapprove of the job Trump is doing, only 21% see Comey as a better FBI director than most of those who came before him. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of those who Strongly Approve of the president’s job performance say Comey was worse than those who preceded him in the FBI job.

Forty-six percent (46%) of all voters believe Comey should be prosecuted for leaking information to the media at the time he was director of the FBI. That’s up from 41% last June following Comey’s admission under oath to a U.S. Senate committee that he leaked memos of his private meetings with Trump as FBI director to The New York Times through a friend.

Just 34% disagree and say Comey should not be prosecuted, down 13 points from 47% in the previous survey. Twenty percent (20%) are not sure.

After calling out Comey for failing to give the poll enough credit in 2016, Rasmussen provides a little flashback on public perception of Comey right after the election: 44% of Democrats blamed Comey’s decision to reopen the investigation into her (which he said in the interview Sunday he did in part to legitimize the presidency he expected her to easily win). Meanwhile, 60% of all voters agreed with his decision and 53% still disagree with his decision not to pursue a criminal indictment of her.

As The Daily Wire has noted previously, after a tough first year in the polls and despite unprecedented bad press, Trump caught up with Obama in the polls in December and has recently surpassed him. Here’s Obama’s numbers from the same point in his presidency:
