In the wake of protests against police brutality, officers in Seattle withdrew to the edges of the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood in an attempt to deescalate tensions. Activists have since occupied a six block stretch now known as both CHAZ (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone) and CHOP (Capitol Hill Occupied Protest).
